By way of an introduction to the 2007 Reunion we start with a report from our very own John Clough to whom we are deeply indebted for taking the time and trouble in its preparation and delivery. Thank you John, a superb account of the weekend!
The 2007 Reunion Report
By John Clough
The enthusiasm was maintained for our sixth reunion weekend at York. It shows how right we are to believe Kingsmoor was a very special school, and we are all very special people! 40 or more were there. Some familiar faces were missing but there were some first timers, including Barry O'Neill and David Wayne with Erica, and many wives and partners, who are always welcome and who fit in just like all the rest. David Wayne had found us by putting “GR Swain” into Google; I wonder who else we could find this way.
As usual we had fine sunny weather. On Saturday morning we had a tour of York Minster with a cheerful guide, who showed us everything including the decorated bosses in the roof of the nave, restored by the Victorians who had made a slight alteration: Mary had been shown breast-feeding Jesus but he is now respectably shown bottle fed!
In the afternoon some of us went round the Railway Museum and some round the York Wheel. More turned up for the celebration lunch on Sunday; Malcolm Carrington made a witty speech and spoke for all of us by thanking Ian Nixon and his helpers for their continuing dedication in making all the arrangements. Here's to the next reunion!
