The 2009 Oxford Reunion Report
by John Clough
It is a truth universally acknowledged that the Kingsmoor Reunions are blessed with good weather, and the gathering in Oxford for our seventh was in glorious sunshine. Several people were unable to come for good reason but there were nearly 40 of us there. Our hotel was good, the food was excellent and everyone joined in lively conversation.
On Saturday we were taken on a guided walking tour of the city and saw the colleges. Many of us were impressed by the natural history museum, with its meteorites, dodo and connections with Alice in Wonderland.
There was a bit of talk about the form of future reunions. Nobody doubted that we would continue them! But two days or three, where to go, big dinner on Saturday or lunch on Sunday? A group was formed: Graham Frost, Malcolm Carrington and Tom Einstein, with Shirley Isaacs offering her help and support. It has the important mission of planning the next reunion in 2011. Our views were gathered from a questionnaire and the group will probably have to reconcile lots of conflicting ideas.
At lunch on Sunday Malcolm Carrington made a speech and we all signed a card for Ian Nixon and Dene who were in South Africa; we look forward to them rejoining us next time. We are very grateful to Ian and Shirley for the preparation which made the Oxford reunion such a success.
